About TC United

Thurston County United (TCU or TC United) was founded in 2011 by Chinqually Booters Soccer Club (CBSC). Our program was intended to fill a void in the community by not just offering competitive soccer at a reasonable cost, but also allowing the easiest possible transition from recreational soccer to competitive soccer for not just players, but coaches as well. We are now the only US Club Soccer affiliated program operating in the region, with all of our teams playing in the Washington Premier League (WPL).

Through our partnership with Chinqually, and our affiliation with WPL and the WPL Academy, we are the only program in Thurston County that offers a seamless route from recreational to competitive playing.

We pride ourselves on our approach to soccer in a player-centered learning environment that connects with US Soccer’s Pathway of coaching. Our coaches are our biggest asset! Although coaches do receive a small stipend, they spend countless hours volunteering their time to the players, club, and programs. Our coaches all have different levels of coaching education, including US Soccer Licensing, United Soccer Coaches Certifications, and in-house training with our Director of Coaching, Kyle Jones, and our Assistant Director of Coaching, Anwar Wilson. TC United pays for all licensing and certification courses that our coaches attend.

As a club, we put an emphasis on individual and player development. We always want to compete to win, but not at the expense of the way we learn and play the game. Ensuring proper development is what gives players an opportunity to play at the next level. This is done through a possession based style of play where players learn to build up from the defensive third through the attacking third like is seen in the modern day game.

The WPL’s rules on promotion and relegation ensure that the US Club’s core value of improved player development and growth of the game is upheld. Teams are placed in their league based on their playing history to guarantee that each player develops and prospers by letting the game be the teacher.

While we are a competitive program, we retain strong ties with our parent recreational club, Chinqually. Our program remains deeply committed to the development and success of recreational players and coaches, with the belief that high-level competitive soccer cannot exist without a prosperous recreational foundation.
