More about Coach Andy:
TCU Girls 2013 Coach Andy Barenberg comes from a family of soccer players. His wife Heather, who played Div. I soccer at the University of Missouri, coaches the Thurston County United (TCU) 2010 boys’ team that his son plays on, and Andy’s daughter Maya will be trying out for the 2013 team.
In his five years of coaching with both Chinqually Booters and TCU, Andy has acquired his D-license from the US Soccer Federation and is currently working toward his United Soccer Coaches Advanced National Diploma. Additionally, he has supplemented this learning with "Spanish Style" coaching methodologies taken from the APFC Positional Play model and the TOVO Academy.
Andy’s goal for the year is to create a player-centered and age-appropriate learning environment with an emphasis on players gaining skill and decision-making through training in game-like situations. Specific goals for the season include learning spatial awareness, playing with heads-up, passing and receiving, and controlling the ball forward. In our practices, players will not be waiting in lines or dibbling around cones but instead, learning decision-making in fun and fast-paced games.”
Andy works as a professor of economics at St. Martin’s University after earning his Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.
